Dr. Michael Lee Brummitt has been practicing general ophthalmology in Alabama since 1992 when he joined the old Florence Clinic, before the group became Florence Ophthalmology, P.C. in 2002.
He is Board Certified and a member of the American
Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Brummitt grew up in Florence and was a graduate of Bradshaw High School. He graduated summa cum laude from Birmingham Southern College before attending the University of South Alabama College of Medicine under a full scholarship. He did his surgical/transitional intern year at Caraway Methodist Hospital and his residency at the Eye Foundation/UAB combined program of Ophthalmology. During his residency he received the honor of being appointed Chief Resident in his final year.
Dr. Brummitt and his wife, Sharon, have been blessed with two boys, Lee and Curt. They are members of the First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Brummitt enjoys playing his piano and an occasional round of golf. He has been a long supporter of Alabama Sight and the Lion’s Club.
